- Japan-America Society provides administrative support
- provides scholarships to American graduate students from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) to study in Japan and to Japanese graduate students to study at UHM
- 115 scholars through the 2004 class
- Emperor and Empress grant private audience to scholars each year
- Scholars also meet with the American Ambassador to Japan
- Society president is also president of CPASF
- CPASF awarded Japan's Foreign Minister's Award in 2000

- Owner of the Ehime Maru Memorial in Kakaako Waterfront Park
- Responsible for maintenance of the Memorial
- Promotes relationship between Hawaii and Ehime Prefecture
- Society's president is also president of EMMA

- member of NAJAS since its establishment in 1979
- assisted NAJAS as its first chair of the U.S.-Japan Links Committee, a group to establish a computer network for NAJAS (developed concept plan; guided implementation)

- in 1999, then Chair Jean Rolles, appointed Mr. Masato Ikegami the Society's Japan Representative
- Mr. Ikegami, a Japanese businessman, with connections in the U.S., is helping to promote the Society in Japan; assisting by expanding the types of programs to further ties between the people of Hawaii and Japan, i.e., ballroom dancing, bicycling, educational tourism
