The grand prize trophy was awarded to Mr. John Hamakawa (R) and Mr. Miles Takahashi (L) by the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu Yasushi Misawa and JASH President Lenny Yajima.

The JASH 26th Annual Friendship Golf Classic was held on April 21st, 2016 at Hawaii Prince Golf Club in Ewa Beach. Mahalo to Tanioka’s Seafoods & Catering for providing the delicious bentos for lunch and a special thank you to Atsushi and Mayumi Takebayashi from Move4Japan for providing the outstanding yakisoba! Shochu donated from Kai Vodka was used for the JASH-traditional sake kanpai at noon, followed by a taiko shotgun sendoff performance by Dragon Beat.

With the taiko drums in the background, 150 golfers descended upon the course. Throughout the 18 holes, golfers enjoyed beautiful sunny and breezy weather, participated in various contests such as the Hole-in-One and Closest to the Pin contests, and enjoyed snacks and refreshments such as frozen fruit bars at Special Hole and inari and maki sushi at the Cold Towel station. The 25th anniversary of JASH’s Annual Friendship Golf Classic was held on April 22nd, 2015 at Hawaii Prince Golf Club in Ewa beach. JASH Holds 24th Annual Golf Tournament at Hawaii Prince Golf Club in Ewa Beach

The Japan-America Society of Hawaii held its 24th Annual Friendship Golf Classic on Thursday, April 24 at Hawaii Prince Golf Club in Ewa Beach. Golfers kicked off the noon start with a kampai and taiko sendoff led by Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko (RMD) Hawaii. The golf tournament is one of three major JASH fundraisers. A prize was awarded to each participant, with a stay package at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort on Maui awarded to the 24th place team in honor of our 24th year; and golf and stay package at the Grand Wailea on Maui awarded to the first place team. Morning thundershowers did not keep away 130 golfers from gathering at Pearl Country Club on Wednesday, April 24 for the Society’s 23rd Annual Friendship Golf Classic. The golf tournament is one of the major fund-raisers along with the Annual Dinner held in the fall. One hundred twenty-two golfers gathered at Pearl Country Club on April 26 for the Society’s 22nd Annual Friendship Golf Tournament. Together with the JASH Annual Dinner in the fall, the golf tournament is the major fund-raiser for the Society. Prizes donated by our supporters were presented to top 30 teams, with the grand prize, a fly/stay/golf package to Maui’s Makena Resort (airfare by Go!Mokulele), presented to the team that placed 22nd.
