HINAMATSURI 2024
On March 1, 2024, Consul General Yoshinori Kodama graciously opened his residence to the Japan-America Society of Hawaii for our annual Hinamatsuri celebration in honor of Girl’s Day. It was a very special occasion and a full house of approximately 40 guests.
Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) also known as Momo-no-sekku (Peach Festival) is traditionally celebrated by Japanese families to wish for the happiness and healthy growth of their daughters. In homes, elegant dolls called hina ningyo dressed in ancient court costumes of the Heian Period (794-1185) are displayed.
