JASH President Reyna Kaneko Represents Hawai‘i at Prestigious Washington, D.C. Meeting
On December 2, JASH President Reyna Kaneko proudly represented Hawai‘i at the Annual Heads of Mission and Japanese American Leaders Meeting in Washington, D.C. This distinguished gathering, hosted by Ambassador Shigeo Yamada at the Japanese Embassy, brought together 22 Japanese American leaders selected by their respective Japanese Embassy and Consulates across the United States.
Organized as a collaborative effort between the Embassy of Japan and the U.S.-Japan Council, the meeting focused on:
Strengthening the U.S.-Japan relationship
Economic growth opportunities
Developing the next generation of leadership
Addressing community fundraising needs
Reyna joined discussions centered on the experiences and challenges of local Japanese American communities, alongside success stories of collaborative initiatives between the Japanese government and the communities.
In the evening, attendees gathered for a reception hosted by Ambassador Yamada, where he highlighted the significance of people-to-people connections in fostering stronger bilateral ties between Japan and the United States.
JASH extends its gratitude to Consul General Kodama of the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu for selecting Reyna to represent Hawai‘i, and to the Government of Japan for fostering this vital platform. Together, we are committed to building stronger connections between our communities for the future.
