The Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) Briefing

On August 14, 2024, members of the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) had the unique opportunity to attend a special briefing at the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) Headquarters, located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Lieutenant General Laura L. Lenderman, the Deputy Commander of PACAF, led the briefing.

Around 20 JASH members and Board Directors, including Consul Kosuke Idenoue, gathered at the PACAF HQ Lobby before being welcomed by Captain Ikeda, who escorted the group to the briefing room.

Lieutenant General Lenderman, who also serves as the Deputy Theater Air Component Commander to the U.S. IndoPacific Command, provided an insightful overview of PACAF’s vast responsibilities. PACAF oversees Air Force operations across half the globe, supporting 46,000 Airmen in Japan, Korea, Hawaii, Alaska, and Guam.

The briefing was highly engaging, with JASH participants actively asking questions and gaining a deeper understanding of PACAF’s critical role in the region.

After the briefing, an Air Force official treated the group to a historical tour of the headquarters.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lieutenant General Lenderman, Captain Ikeda, and JASH Board Directors Sal Miwa and Steve Dyer for planning and coordinating this special event.
