Sadako Peace Projects Spring 2024 Semester Recap
The Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) collaborates with Pacific Historic Parks (PHP) to organize the Sadako Peace Projects at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial once a month during the academic school year. In the spring semester, high school and university student volunteers participated with JASH and PHP on February 3, March 26, and April 20, where they shared the inspiring story of Sadako Sasaki and her message of world peace with visitors to the memorial. Attendees not only learn the art of folding peace cranes but also have the opportunity to take home cranes folded by students in Japan! These donated cranes are folded and sent to JASH as part of lessons on world history and peace studies, coordinated by teachers in Japan.
